In the rapidly evolving field of artificial intelligence (AI), there is a significant gap in the participation of female labor. According to data from the Global Gender Gap Report 2023 published by the World Economic Forum, women’s representation in the advancement of artificial intelligence is severely lacking. To address this challenge, FAIR Forward: Artificial Intelligence for All through AI Policymakers Training, held from November 2023 to March 2024, is committed to gender inclusion with modules and training specifically designed to strengthen the capacity of policymakers, particularly women. This approach aims to reduce the gap and ensure that the development of artificial intelligence is conducted inclusively and ethically.
According to the 2021 PitchBook report, funding for female-led technology startups has more than doubled in the last decade, from $2.305 billion to $5.509 billion. This reflects recognition of women’s potential within the venture capital community. Despite this significant funding, companies founded by women still receive a smaller percentage of total venture capital funding compared to those founded by men, indicating that there is still a long way to go to achieve gender equality in the tech sector.
